Feel the difference of natural handmade soaps and skincare. Unlike commercial soap, cold process handmade soap retains all of it's naturally occurring glycerin (a humectant that draws in moisture), thereby conditioning your skin and never leaving you feel dry and itchy. And guess what? Our full bars of soap are wrapped in paper that grows wildflowers! Yup, that's right, don't throw away the package. Instead, plant it right in your backyard and watch wildflowers bloom!

Eat Cake!
My family celebrated my grandma's 76th birthday yesterday and so our crazy family got together for BBQ and cake. First of all, I love baking. I think I could be a pastry chef one day if I ever get tired of soap-making. I've made all kinds of desserts, but I've never made a two-layer cake until now. I know it doesn't really sound like a big deal, but I've always been a little intimidated with the process. By nature I'm pretty impatient and I like immediate results. Baking, cooling, stacking, carving, crumb coating, cooling some more, frosting and cooling again.. well, that's always sounded like a lot of waiting. I don't like to wait for anything... much less sweets. But, I did it, and it was worth it. My first two-layer "patience" cake.
I downloaded the bunting banner letters from the Ruffled blog. I thought they would be so adorable to use. The cake is decorated with some edible vintage buttons and gold shimmer I've had in my cupcake arsenal. And yes, it does say "happy birthday gramnugget" (that's what I call her). The cake has since been demolished, so I'm glad I was able to snap a few pictures to share it with you. ♥

Behind the Scenes : New Lime Salt Soap
Today I decided to venture into salt soap making. Here is the result of my first successful batch! This guy sets up so fast, I had to cut it within an hour of pouring.
Scented with lime, this bar is sure to rouse the senses. I can't wait to test it and then offer it to you.
I'd love to hear what you think. ♥

I'm having an affair with Graphic Design ♥
Don't worry, I'm still in love with making soap, but I get the butterflies when I'm designing new artwork with Creative Suite. I get so excited to learn new techniques, and while I'm not a master at graphic design (yet), I sure do love to pretend. Plus, it doesn't hurt that I get to design graphics and print material for bambuearth without spending a pretty penny. ♥ What do you think of my newest adventure?

Pause, it's Easter.
With
Easter rearing it's head, I'm given pause to remember the sacrifice
that was made so many years ago for me, for everyone.
This verse is one I've heard many
times, yet I've chosen to look at it differently this week. Instead of
"the world" and "whoever", I've put in my name to remember that the
sacrifice made for the world, was also made just for me.
It's a bit different when I read this well-known verse with my own name in it (*I'd encourage you to try it too!) And although it is a humbly small show of gratitude for the enormity of what He did, I'm inspired this week to take on a fresh, new servants heart, and redirect my eyes to the cross, as I am reminded that my life is no longer my own, but has been purchased at a great cost.
"For God so loved AMBER that he gave his
one and only Son, that IF AMBER believes in him SHE shall not perish but have eternal life." -John 3:16 It's a bit different when I read this well-known verse with my own name in it (*I'd encourage you to try it too!) And although it is a humbly small show of gratitude for the enormity of what He did, I'm inspired this week to take on a fresh, new servants heart, and redirect my eyes to the cross, as I am reminded that my life is no longer my own, but has been purchased at a great cost.
And just as important as that posture is the one of celebration and worship knowing that we are able to have eternal life with our creator because sin and death no longer separate us! What an awesome truth to dwell on.
